What is your “why”? What drives you to do this important work each day?
I want to provide opportunities and experiences to our Indigenous students to help embrace who they are, and to be proud. My hope is that by strengthening their own personal identities as Indigenous people they will continue to strengthen our communities and make positive impacts.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
I enjoy seeing the students accomplish small successes from day to day. I appreciate watching them grow in their learning or developing their self esteem. As they go though their school journey, I love witnessing how far they have come and excited to see where they will go.
What would you most like families to know about the role of Student Support Workers in HRCE?
I'd like families to know that our roles of providing Indigenous support is crucial for building relationships with your children. We can offer extra guidance, and encouragement to help students achieve overall success.
